can you substitute apple cider vinegar for white distilled vinegar?

Yes all the better, it gives a fruity flavor and actually tastes better

This is one that may take some experimentation to determine which flavor you like best. I'd do two batches using both vinegars and compare the taste.

Also, the type of potato you use may have an effect on the taste, as well. A mealier potato will absorb more of the vinegar flavor, so you might want to use the milder of the two.

Not sure about apple cider vinegar, but I have used Malt vinegar and Sea Salt~~much like miss Vickie's chips, or other brands that make Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar~~and it's yummy!!

I'd use a good white vinegar or even a Chinese Rice Vinegar
