My boyfriend has this cloud over his head. I call it family history. He was tormented as a child by his mom. Control issues I guess. Now every opinion, ideas or thoughts that I have about things...he thinks it's a way of me to control him and his actions...
I don't know how to go around him not feeling that way about me.
I feel that I'm there for my bf for support and advice not to control or change him. I love him for him...
Suggestions?

I doubt there is much you can do for him. What he really needs is professional therapy, to work out his issues.
It will take a lot of time, perhaps years, that's assuming he is willing to go for help.
Either you accept him as he is, and live with it, or you move on, and find someone, with less baggage.
I hope he seeks the help he needs, for both your sakes.

wow this is a tough question. You should have a serious conversation with him and tell him that you are not like his mother, that you love him and everything you advise him to do comes from the heart because you love him. If a serious conversation doesnt work, he should get profesional help....he cant go his whole life living that way. Good luck.

I wouldn't even begin to pretend to know your relationship with your bf but, you said you are there for him with support and advice. That is great. Maybe he needs a lot of support and less advice? Maybe just be there for him and quietly listen. Sometimes we really don't want feedback.....we just want someone to quietly listen.
The best to both of you. :)

he needs professional counseling. you said yourself it stems from being abused by his mother. if he can tell you, he needs to tell someone who can hilp him walk through the pain and overcome it, to be any good to himself, you or anyone else.
