I have a Qura'n that I have been reading for the past month. I am Catholic and just want to learn for myself what it says because people here and in other chatrooms seem to misquote it. It's an interesting read and difficult at some points. I have no desire to convert but I like to read holy books from other religions so I know what they really say for myself. Then I can have more intelligent talks with people online.

Ive been trying to read a translation for some time now. I know thats not exactly the best, but I read an English version of the Bible as well, so thats the best I can do.
It appeals to me as little as the Bible and seems a bit less tolerant towards other religions but it is interesting. Too bad Islam is not for me. Yay, agnosticism!

Yes mashallah, I have read recited it twice in Arabic, and read fully two translations (by Pickthall in Old English and Dr. Muhammad Muhsin Khan - modern english)
Now I am studying the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir from the 14 century so I can learn about Islam for the great scholars and not the opinions of people.

yes and it is beautiful
there are things in there that may sound weird
but that is because its the English version.
when you understand Arabic it makes all the sense in the world.
English and Arabic are completely different so all the translations of the Qumran are translated properly just maybe some of the words don't exactly have the same meaning.
it is truly an amazing book that when you read it and understand it you just have a feeling that makes you so happy.
the Quran is about interpretation not translation.

Yes. and for very long time and I found out how the islam called the Jews in surah ALJUMAH verse 5 they are Jack ***.
Surah AL ARAF verse 176 any one who does not believe in muhammad and his religion they are like dogs and how muslims ok to lie by using AL TAKYH but you should not read only the quran to know the truth about islam you have to read AL- TFASSER, AL HADEETHbecause the quran is nothing with out al tafasser and in these books you will found out the true islam and you have to read it in Arabic because islam is completely deferent in other languages

i did it i had too i was engaged to a muslim woman who died so had to read it and she knew i would take it as an allegorical way to live and not a literal story

so i red it hundreds &hundreds of times
may ALLAH reward us for it and make it the way to heaven
N.B I am arabian so it's easy for me to read it :)
