My cat is not friendly. I would really like it if she sat in my lap, but she never wants to. What can I do so that she wants to sit in my lap?

Cats are lap cats or they are not lap cats.
You cannot convert one to the other.
You can entice her to sit next to you but if she hates the lap she will not change now.
I have one lap cat and two non-lap cats. This is fortunate because I only have one lap:) It is unfortunate because she feels the same way about my laptop:)

How long have you had her? How old is she? What was her experiences before you had her?

Our male cat didn't necessarily want in our lap at first, when he was a kitten, but he gradually became a VERY cuddley cat. He's 5 now.

Our female, was cuddly at first when we got her at about 6 weeks but then our male was aggressive towards her (jealous) so now she's a bit shy. But she will lay next to us when he's not around, and she will for some reason, get into our lap if we're at the computer in my HUSBAND'S office, but not often at my computer in my craft room! Both cats do that.

She has gotten less shy as she has gotten older & bigger, as he doesn't intimidate her as much. She's 2 now.

Summary - I think it can take time. Most cats mellow out with age. Try the treats, try brushing her.

I have 2 orange tabby cats, both males, both neutered. They are 11 years old. One is so loveable that sometimes he is a pest. But the other one is not loveable, doesn't want to be held or sit in my lap, never has since he was a kitten. However, he does like to sit next to me in bed when I am watching tv, he doesn't sleep with me. He also likes to sit on my desk in front of my monitor and demands attention. He rubs against me and my face and is loveable. So they can be loveable in other ways. They don't always have to be lap kitties. Good Luck!

be friendly to her, treat her with kindness, care and love. then when she finally trusted you, u can have her do anything u want, for instance sit in you lap. or maybe she doesnt want to just sit still in one place, probably like to walked around a lot.

you can't really do anything, love, what you can do is wait and be patient maybe she likes paper or something to lie on i know my cat does... hes a meance when i try to read things. try things like that maybe she will sit on it on your lap then. you can't force a cat to love you maybe you need to ignore her more and then maybe she will be willing to be loved back more thats how i trained my friends cat when i moved in two years ago. i call him a cog really he does everything i say or do to him it's cute lol.
