this girl told the guy i like in front of me to ask me out!!!
he kind of smiled and then gave her a mean look...
what could this mean?

He was either embarassed or he doesn't like you, or he does like you and is too shy. Try talking to him yourself.

Maybe he was just put on the spot. He did not want to have that girl say that in front of you. If he wanted to ask you out he would but not because that other girl said to do it. So he was probably giving her a bad look to say, " why did you have to say that in front of her?" and then he smiled at you because he wanted to laugh with you and at the same time for you to know that he was maybe a little embarrassed?

It could mean he is shy and was embarrassed or that he does not like you and now if forced to ask you out!!
I would say wait and see what he does but if he decides to ignore you.......talk to him and act like a friend only......see if he likes you....some guys bloom late and in this country even later.....I remember having this kind of troubles in 4th grade but not after that.....I guess you have to be in high school to grow up here!!!

It means he likes you but there was too much pressure in that situation to do anything about it. If he wasn't interested he'd have probably said so.
Your friend was on a power trip trying to make people feel embarrassed. Send him a note in class and see if he wants to go out with you.

It usually means that he isn't into you... If he was and he was still trying to shrug it off he prolly would have smiled and changed the subject or something.

Could have meant nothing. maybe he thought she was being to forward....ASK him...then you will know for sure.
And like someone else said, maybe he knows you like him, but he does not share the same feeling, and having her say that, put him in an awkward spot.

it means he likes you and proboly wants to like you but he's afraid of what kind of things the school might say about you and him

I would say it means one of two things:
a) He doesn't like you that way
b) He does like you but doesn't like being put on the spot! I'm sure he was uncomfortable.

He could be embarrased that you were standing right there, or he didn't want you to know that he was into you. It could go either way.
