I'm 15, a high schooler. 5'6 and 130 lbs. It's in the healthy weight range and I can run an 8-minute mile, but I always feel overweight and out of shape.
My problem is that I can't stop eating. I love sugar and sweet things, and hardly ever turn down food. At lunch, whether I eat the school's or bring my own, I never feel like I've had enough and beg more off my friends or eat the leftovers. At home, while doing homework or whatever, I constantly need something to munch on. Chewing gum helps in a major way, but it's expensive enough that my mom gets annoyed when I ask her to buy about a pack a week. What can I do?

My metabolism is barely above average (we did a study in class), and I keep on slowly gaining weight. It's about a pound every month, but it's starting to creep up. I want to lose some weight or get in shape, but I just can't keep away from the food.

Eating while you're doing Homework or watching TV is dangerous. You'll eat more than you wanted to because you aren't paying attention to it. So be careful of that.
Also, if you feel hungry all the time and keep wanting sugar, its probably because you're blood sugar is skyrocketing and then falling. You need to cut back on your sugar. When you want something sweet, try fruit. It'll get easier over time. And dont try to stop all at once, ease yourself off of your high-sugar diet.

I am much older than you are, and have the same problem. Part of being hungry has to do with body chemistry, and mineral imbalance. You can try a chromium supplement from the health food store, that is supposed to help Cinnamon is also a blood sugar stabilizer, and I sprinkle this on my morning oatmeal. If you don't want to use chewing gum, try munching on carrots and celery stalks, both of these help to satisfy the crunchy needs. You sound like a sensible young woman, with a nice height/weight proportion. If all else fails, you might need a thyroid test. Sorry I don't have more to offer. Best wishes.

Well it seems like that you have an eating problem so you just have to find another food that teases like a Berger or w/e you eat and see if it's healthy i did it I'm only 14 and i weigh 210 that bad then i started eating healthy food that looked like junk food it helped me so it should help you.

Its called having a fast metabolism.
You dont gain weight even though you eat like ten times more than normal people.
I say just live with it. Its not a curse, I promise.

omg im 18 5'6' and weigh only 100pd and i eat like a damn beast!!! and i cant gain any weight!!
