Okay, long story short, I told my gf the following "If I didnt find you attractive I wouldnt have talked to you." She found that statement to be a sign that I am a superficial jerk who is "just like every other man out there." I thought it was an obvious statement (why date someone you arent attracted to?) but I know I worded it poorly...should she be holding it against me?

Ya I would have been really upset if someone said that to me...it basically means that your in it for her looks and not her personality which is "just like every other guy" I think you should go explain to her what you meant and in a nicer way that won't offend her

she's being a typical woman, making a mountain out of a molehill. Oh and before all the woman out the freak out, I'm a woman too!!! She wouldn't have spoken to you either if you say looked like the hunchback of Notre Dame, now would she??? She has a the perogative to get a teeny tiny bit upset but not to hold it against you

well here's the thing - guys are as straightforward as an arrow and you meant exactly what you said, "i find you attractive", you think she's beautiful but girls, tend to take things...not as straightforward, I can understand why she thought of it that way. you just need to be careful how you say it and say it differently because girls can't understand "man language" - break it down for her and say, what i really meant to say is that I think you're a beautiful girl but that's not the only reason why I find you attractive...it's more than that..." Girls think a guy is superficial if you just plainly give her a compliment about her looks - if you're gonna compliment "looks", compliment her heart also.

It's one of things you both know is true, but you probably shouldn't say. The majority of the time, when a guy starts talking to a girl he doesn't know, it's because he finds her attractive. I mean, what's the first thing you notice about a person? Obviously, their appearance.

NOPE. Tell her to realize that youre not like all the other guys out there b/c if, in her eyes 'all the rest' aren't good guys, then she herself has a poor selection process. Turn it around on her.

dont worry to much about it. she took it the wrong way. if she says it agian, tell her its a good thing anf that its a complament
