I was watching animal planet with my dad the other day and I started thinking about what would happen if we dropped off all the pit bulls (especiall the crazy one) right in the middle of the african safari. Besides the Lions what could destroy them...Hmm..could a lion even destroy a crazy pit bull??? I would love to hear some opinions. Thank you.

Lets just say that we dump all the crazy one out there and they don't kill eachother.

Also, can all the people who think I'm an animal abuser chill out! This is just a hypothetical question. I don't mind pit bulls at all. IT'S JUST A QUESTION!!!

A 'safari' is not a place it is an activity.

First of all, a "safari" is a sort of venture into the African bush, usually to observe or capture wildlife....the bush area and the grasslands are more or less known as the "savannah." The parts with trees are forests or rainforests, depending on several factors.

Yeah, pit bulls could survive. Aside from lions, they would face threats from leopards, jackals, hyenas, monkeys (eat the puppies), kicks from zebras or antelope, or even elephants. It'd be hard, but not impossible. Lions prefer to kill their prey with a quick blow to the neck from their jaws, not a bloody fight to the death. Most likely, they could kill the pit bull. I don't know, they might not even mess with the pit bulls....they might not be big enough to bother with as a meal....that's why lions kill large animals...so they can eat enough protein to get back what energy they expended in the chase. Also, they miss something like 8 out of every 10 attempts at catching prey.....so I don't think pit bulls would be high on the list. Leopards and hyenas would pose more of a threat. Hyena packs roam at night and have jaws capable of easily crushing bone. They're more to the size of a pit bull, but more vicious. They don't really hunt unless they're starving, but they will fight other animals and then eat the carrion as well as what they were fighting over. Lions, for the most part, avoid hyena packs, because they'd be matched about equally. (1 lion to the whole pack) Leopards prefer larger prey, but are not adverse to small fry if they can get it. They kill, then hide the rest of the meat for a later time. So maybe they'd kill two or three pits....I really don't know....

Also, crocodiles, monitor lizards, birds of prey, and hippos could be considered threats.

They most likely would survive, somewhat like hyenas. They would pack and hunt together. But, the animals in Africa are much larger and could easily kill them when not surrounded by a pack. They have very thin hair, or can have thin hair, so they wouldn't overheat. Pitbulls are tough, but a lioness, the usual hunters for lion prides, would and could kill one of them easily. The media pumps the world full of fear of pits, and really, they can be as docile as any other dog. But even the craziest pit when put against a lion on its own would not survive.

hmm i dont know ithink the loins could and would but they are tons of zebra and other non volient prey but yeah a loin could tear a pit bull to sherds and the cats cheetah and others most of the pitbulls would probaly fight each other.
but the pit bull breed itself is not a blood hunger crazy beast.
People train and make a dogs personality.alot of people harm pitbulls mind by feeding them gun powder which kills brain cells andmaking them fight so thats why they are mean.
but if you get a puppy raise it to be a pet a lazy house dog then it is a great guard dog as well as a friend! but alot of people are to blame for crazy pitbulls

First of all, abandoning ANY animal, regardless of its temperment, is irresponsible, cruel and inhumane, and frankly, stupid. I'm assuming you're singling out pitbulls because of all the bad press they get? More people are bit by terriers, chihuahuas and border collies every year than are bit by pitbulls. Also, dogs are not responsible for their behaviour; people are. The breeders that breed them for their 'crazy' temperments, the owners that abuse them to make them 'crazy' and the owners that are ignorant and don't teach obedience are to blame. Pitbulls are no more aggressive than cocker spanials (probably less so), but do more damage. Perhaps if people tried harder to educate themselves about the real problems, we would have fewer tragedies to fuel our ignorance.
