If it was from a reputable breeder then that is about right. The dogs that are cheaper are from a puppy mill.

Besides who can put a price on love. I'm happy you have such a good new friend!

yeah thats about right. Especially if the come from a good breeder with show\pet quality dogs. The cost of breeding dogs really adds up with the breeder having to feed the mom extra because she has to feed herself and the puppies inside her while she is pregnant. Thats double what she would normally eat. And when the puppies are born and they start eating real food, thats a lot of little mouths to feed! And the breeder has to be prepaired if the mom doesn't accept one or a few of her puppies, the the breeder will have to bottle feed them. And what if te mom goes into labor and shes in it for hours and no puppies come? Then the breeder will have to go to a vet and have the puppies c-sectioned so they don't die inside the mom. And getting them de-wormed, first shots, health tested, first vet. exam, ect. So a good breeder would charge a decent amount to make the money back for the dogs. And the correct spelling of the breed is "shih-tzu" so your not cussing if you type it.

I think that is a ridiculously high price to pay for a Shih Tzu unless the dog is show trained, ready to finish and has generations of health tested dogs behind it. If you are happy with the dog though that is all that matters.

If you got him from a reputable/responsible breeder, and he comes from titled or at least pointed sire & dam, then yes, that's a pretty fair price.

If you bought him from a pet store or your average Joe that breeds just for the sake of making some money, then you've been ripped off!

I think thats a fair price for a dog like that. Shih Tzus are show dogs, thats why they cost a lot. Also they are so adorable!

I really hope that you got it from a Reputable Registered Breeder, otherwise it was a pretty expensive mutt.

I think that sounds about right! shi tzu's are really great dogs! That is a really reasonable price. Especially if you already love him...now that is priceless!!! =)
