Well sometimes you are eating more than other people and you don't even know it. Do you know that eating a certain amount of chips is in a whole different league than eating that same amount of crackers? It's not the amount of what you're eating- it's *what* you're eating.
Also, the amount your excersize has a HUGE factor. If you want to lose weight, you have to burn more than you eat on a daily basis. That's not hard for some people because they don't eat fatty meals.
Another factor is genetics. If your mother or father or both is or was overweight, then you have a high chance of being overweight, even if you eat right and excersize a lot. And that has to do with how fast or slow your metabolism is. There's nothing you can do about that but work harder than everyone else to lose weight, and that doesn't mean binge diets, pills, creams, or no hard work. Staying fit is hard work, but it is definitely worth it.

You most likely have a slower metabolism then most people. I know really skinny people who eat junk food all day and lots of it and can't gain 1 pound.
To lose the weight you will have to start eating healthy and working out. Something that will help increase your metabolism is eating small meals throughout the day. Shoot for 6 small meals and you should notice a difference. I'd also say you should read some of the good fitness articles at http://fitnessarticles.excellentabc.com . They have good advice there.
Hope this helps

You probably don't get enough exercise. People are overweight mostly because they consume more calories than they expend. Nothing really mystifying about that. Check with your doctor to be sure it's not medical and then just start moving. Lifting weights helped me lose inches pretty rapidly. I read a book called "8 Minutes in the Morning" by Jorge Cruise. Also, you sound a little depressed and that doesn't help either.

Many here have suggested slow metabolism as an answer, but the reality is there really isn't any such thing unless you have some rather specific disease processes. Ultimately weight gain or loss depends on calories burned vs. calories eaten. Eat more calories than you burn, then you gain weight.
The amount of excess calories a person needs to gain weight is much smaller than you might think. An average excess of 100 calories per day (roughly 1/2 can of regular soda or 2 Oreos ), leads to an excess of calories per year of 36,500. In weight this would translate to 10.4 kilos or about 23 lbs. per year.
Additionally, over weight people (like myself) nearly always underestimate how much they actually eat. Try Weight Watchers.

It might not be how much you eat, but what you are eating. Watch your portion sizes also. Do you eat a lot of fried food? Pasta? Sweets? Cut all that out. Drink water, not pop. And walk at least 30 minutes a day. If you still have trouble go see the doctor. Dr Oz says your waist should not be more than 32" around. Concentrate on your waist size.

Okay....3,500 calories to burn one pound of fat
You keep a journal of your food intake..I think its highly important for you to see on paper the numbers of what you are taking in.
You buy a calorie counting watch..You take your total intake calories +3,500 add them together and THAT is what you need to burn everyday..to burn one pound.
If you start seeing the numbers I think it will help see that alot of what you might eat..may be uneccesary. You have to remember that your stomach and your intake of food at one meal sitting should be the size of your fist. It doesn't take much food to maintain your health. You can have 5 to 6 servings of healthy food the size of your fits over three regular huge meals. Your body is like a conveyer belt. You need a little at a time to keep everything moving. Good Luck

it may be your metabolism, and what other people are you comparing your portion sizes to? bc even if they aren't fat, they may be lucky to have a fast metabolism. you may also have a slow thyroid. there are a number of reasons you may be fat, it may be your mind, lack of exercises and portion sizes. search on the wed to find real potion sizes and go by either your body or the portion sizes.
