Tonic water is water with quinine - soda water is carbonated water.

Quinine is supposed to alleviate the effects of malaria.

yep Soda Water is mixed with carbon dioxide (gas) making it carbonated and Tonic Water contains quinine giving it a slightly bitter taste also a Club Soda contains a small amount of salt

Tonic contains quinine (or something akin to it), which gives it an astringent quality. Soda water is just carbonated water.

soda water is water with gas injected into it. No flavor. Tonic has flavoring and I think it may still have quinine in it.
