The room thermostat determines how hot the room gets. If you turn down the radiators, it still gets that hot but just takes longer to get there.

If you turn down the room thermostat, the room gets less hot, uses less energy and costs you less money.

If you REALLY wanted to save money on heating, you would wear a thicker shirt or an undershirt or a sweater and turn down the room thermostat. When you think about it, its crazy to heat a whole house to keep a few humans up to temperature - much better to insulate the humans!

If you have thermostatic rad valves, the idea is to set them so each room is right for you. The main thermostat should be set right first for the room it is in. HTH LOL
