I have managed to lose a twelve page essay that has taken about 5 weeks to research and type... I downloaded it from my hotmail account and in a rush I saved it and then realised that I hadn't saved it to my hard drive... help me someone, asap!! Thanks
P.S. it has to be handed in tomorrow morning...

Jim - It wasn't saved to my email or anything, I pressed ctrl ans s which saved it, but I can't pinpoint where I've saved it to!

It will have saved it in the windows temp directory.

C:\windows\temp

Also, you could open word up (assuming you use word) and choosing "File" from the menu list, you should see the last documents you opened at the end.

If you still can't find it, do a search for *.doc files from C:\ (the top level) and hopefully you will find your essay in the results.

Hopefully, you attached the document to an email (I often email docs to myself. That ensures it is always accessible.) Just go back to the email item and open then re-save the doc.

You will probably need to download some free file recovery software and look in all temp folders for the temporary file that was deleted when you closed it from your e-mail.

I Know! go to the start menu>search>and then type in the title of it or the first words of it.

Hotmail as in e-mail? Because if it is, then it should still be in your e-mail. Double check there. If not, sorry, don't know what to do.
