woman is by choice very domestic, makes the home warm and inviting, and caters to her Husband, by whom she is loved dearly. Think Leave it to Beaver, only with spankings if she gets out of line, ala John Wayne in McClintock. No one is suggesting that this is the only choice, but I'm curious as to how many girls would desire that type of arrangement.

In a way, sure that would be great! I would love to stay home with the babies and do all the domestic duties and have my man be the breadwinner and take care of me. However, I work full time, take 2 graduate classes a week at a University about an hour away from my home AND still cook, clean, laundry, vaccuum. So what is the difference? I like having my own money, that's the difference. I will never ask if it's ok to spend on this or that, it's mine, I work dang hard for it and if I want to blow it on shoes or purses, I don't want anyone telling me NO! And I get spanked now, lol, which I like.

My guess is not too many any more. Now that woman have more opportunities outside the home they have found a lot of Independence and do not want to be at home all day.
I personally would love to end up in a situation where I can be a woman serving my husband and children out of love, but not if he expects it or demands it from me. If men today were as respectful and honorable as they were in the 50's I think woman would be more likely to be stay at home moms.
