First, the Air Force is in the middle of "right-sizing" (releasing personnel) so competition is going to be a little more stiff for slots, especially in Comm. However, that is likely to change in the next couple years. The best thing you can do is keep your grades up and take the ASVAB test (do well on it). You will need to qualify to be elligable for Comm.

You can schedule the test by calling your local AF Recruiter's office. When negotiating to sign your paperwork, make sure that your AFSC is declared on the papers so that you're locked in for a Comm slot. If you have general AFSC on the contract, they send you through basic then put you wherever they like.

As to training, you'll go to boot, then you'll be turned around and sent to a tech school which will last between 2-8 months where you'll receive some great training on some really advanced systems. You'll then be off to your base where you'll receive a bit more training and then on the job instruction and work. You'll live in a dorm for your first three years of service (unless you're married or otherwise have dependents). Food will be cheap at the dining hall, and there are all sorts of reasonably priced activities on base.

Here's the best to seeing you in the service.

Everything in the Air Force is geared around your test scores and "needs of the Air Force." Make sure your grades are good and when you test for the USAF do your best and you can get a high tech job. The Air Force has some really neat high tech toys to play with to those that qualify.

have you considered college first? Then you could join the Air Force as an officer.

Good Luck... like he said....the Air Force is downsizing. If you have ANY law violations, your chances are slim. If you're overweight at all, you won't get in. Your ASVAB score needs to be good.

I'm sure you'll be fine, though.

The Air Force is really technical, you'll get good training and it will look good on a resume' for sure.

First of all you need to see your local Air Force recruiter And tell him or her of your intentions and then ask them what courses you might need to take to follow your goals.

To go to the Air Force Academy you need to do a list of stuff and get a form signed by your congressman.
