Esther.
Simply told, here is the story of Ahasuerus, king of Persia, thought by some to be Xerxes I, whose disobedient wife Vashti is replaced by the Jewess Esther, cousin of Mordecai who wrote the book.
The Agagite Haman plots the death of Mordecai and all the Jews, but he is hung on his own stake, while Mordecai is advanced to be prime minister and the Jews are delivered. A thrilling read and a vivid account of how Esther, with guidance from Mordecai, was used by God to deliver the Jews from extermination

Hmm, that's a hard one. The top three would probably be Daniel, Ezra/Nechemia, and Ovadiah. The first two, becuase I just like them, and Ovadiah, becuase its the shortest book in the bible (Jewish bible, anyway; I wouldn't know if the Christians have anything shorter).

I really like to read Psalms. It's very poetic and tells us a lot about God's personality (his lovingkindness, grace, mercy, etc.)
