How can I look my age (without wearing any make up) so that strangers don't ASSUME ( I hate it when people assume!) that I'm a teen and don't respect me as much.

I'm 23.

Thanks, Private P, I do want to stay young and look it also, but Not to the point where I look too young to be taken seriously, but I know what you mean.

Wardrobe - Dress young but with class. Leave the juniors department behind. You can find some fun outfits in the misses department that are classy and will give you a more grownup look.

Hair - I'd consult your stylist. You might want to go for a more sophisticated hair style.

Speech - Listen to how you talk. Do you use a lot of slang terms that are indicative of your age? Edit those out. Speak with confidence. People tend to end their sentences now like everything is a question. Example, I like that movie, ya know. The real question is do you know if you like that movie. If so, don't phrase it like a question. Just say, "I like that movie."

These are just a few suggestions.

I think that if you act and dress in a professional manner as opposed to that of your peers, you will be taken more seriously.

In the meantime, enjoy it. 23 is young. Most people your age are immature and not driven.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to act serious.

Otherwise, you will always be mistaken for being younger than you really are.

But the short answer is: Live hard. Stay up to 3 am drinking booze everyday. Smoke like a chimney, sit out in the sun for hours and let it cook your skin until you wrinkle up like a raisin.

All the women I know that lived like that at 23-25 look 50+ by the time they were in their 40's.

Carry yourself with confidence, like a lady, not a girl.

Plus, two thumbs up to the first answerer, all of that is very good advice.

Also, 23 *IS* very young, so do not take it as an insult, you are only a couple of years out of the teenage years. Hopefully you will retain that youthful;l appearance when you hit 40 :o)

Born2Run, you've given a very classy answer! Way to go!

To the asker: I can really, really relate to your dilemna...but isn't it a nicer "problem" to have than say people mistaking you for 40ish when you're only 25ish?

I just turned 58 (days ago) and people just can't believe it --- the oldest they see me is mid-40s...I'd take that anyday! It's the same way for my son (he's turning 33 this May) and most everyone thinks he just graduated from high school...he just hates it when he buys cigs for me coz they card him. My husband looks youthful too but they usually miss his age by just 5 yrs. (more or less).

Just sharing..............

It doesn't matter what other people think. It matters only what you think and when you figure that out you will enjoy life alot more
