Hi,

This morning at my doctor's appointment she told me that she wanted me to come back on Friday morning for a non-stress test and blood work because my blood pressure was much higher than she'd like ( it was 144/95, its usually 120/70)....she told me to pack a hospital bag and bring it with me because there's a chance they may have to induce depending on the test results. I will be 36 weeks and 3 days...I am very very very worried about how my baby's health will be... Has anyone had a preemie born around this time? What was your experience like?

I also had all the stress tests and fetal measurements and assessment tests and my daughter was born at 36 weeks. She was 5 lbs and healthy. We went home the next day and she just turned 1. Everything was fine. The only problem she had was she didn't really cry until about 2 weeks old because she still had a little fluid in her lungs. Good luck, and get the babies room ready. God knows mine wasnt.

Ok well to start off I've never had a preemie or a baby at all in fact. But I wouldn't be worried about having a premature baby though, my mother had me when she was only 34 weeks pregnant and I don't have any serious medical conditions at all! Being a premature baby has NOT affected my life, so don't worry about if you have to give birth at 36 weeks. The doctor would not induce birth if she thought that it would harm the baby.

I included a link that I thought would be pretty helpful, it explains alot about what happens after the delivery.

Good Luck, and I hope everything goes well for you.

My blood pressure got to 155/110 and wouldn't come down, so my daughter was born 2 days short of 35 weeks. Since I didn't know this, I didn't have a hospital bag, so you're ahead of me on that one! Despite my concerns, she was fine-could breathe on her own and was allowed to room in with me. The only bit of trouble we had was that she had some trouble nursing, especially since she was a sleepy preemie. She is now 2.5 and a bright, beautiful little girl.

no worries hun. At 36 weeks your only a week away from the baby techniqually being full term (because it can go 2 weeks either way as most ppls periods cannot be calculated exactly) Your baby will be just fine! Although might need to be in a NICU for a day for her lungs or to make sure shes all good but 99% of babies at that point make it! SMILE your ok and just give her/him lots of kisses!

I had my twins 6 weeks early. They were fine spent some time in the NICU for sucking reflexes but other than that they were healthy and still are! Congrats!
