Heck ya I was scared. I was terrified. However I got through it, and actually want more eventually. Yes it does hurt, however it is all worth it. All I can say is attend Lamaze class, watch the parenting movies and read the books. And decide before hand if you want an epidural, and don't let anybody feel bad about your decisions.

I think all new Moms are scared because they have never experienced birth before. I am not going to lie to you and say it doesn't hurt, because it hurts a lot. Get an epidural and it will be more bearable. Good Luck and relax-it is well worth the pain involved.Being a Mom is the best thing in the world!

YES IT HURTS, but you forget about all the pain the first time you see your baby. i am a mother of 2 and i dont even remember what level of pain i was in i have forgotten all about it. but i would do it all over again a hundred times. the first one was a normal vaganal birth with a epidural. the second one was a c- section that was wounderful. you go in lay on the table they pupm you full of drungs and you just lay there and what seems like 10 seconds(really half hour to hour) your a new mommy. and you dont have a care in the world it was the best. no pain. except after all the meds wore off. bummer. good luck

Hi, am mum of two boys, both complicated long drawn out deliveries with complications. Would I change any of it ? for two days in my life I have had 19 years of total joy with my boys. Listen to your midwives, do exactly what they say, take whatever pain relief is available and you will come out the other side with your reward. Everyone is different, my own Mother shelled three of us like peas with gas and air and a combined labour time of 7 hours (so not fair). I have a pain threshold so low it barely exists and have to laugh about the way I carried on during labour looking back. Fear made it so much harder for me, you will be in competent hands and like me I bet you go on to have another, so It cant be all that bad, enjoy as much of it as you can, although it was the least natural experience of my life without a doubt it was the best.

Every woman (and man) are scared of having a baby. It does hurt, but it is well worth it. I stressed so much about the pain of labor, and I am not going to lie, it DID hurt! But, ANY WOMAN will tell you...as soon as they place that baby on your stomach, you forget about the pain you just went through. Get the epidural! It is SO NICE!!!!

Best thing you can do is don't think of the pain before the birth and don't worry yourself about something that is inevitable.
DO NOT watch childbirth films.
DO NOT listen to other peoples stories about their horrific labours and the agony and the '4 million stitches' they had.
YES it WILL hurt, try the pain relief on offer.
TRUST the midwives and listen to them, but most of all, listen to your body. It WILL cope and you WILL get through it.
I am the worlds BIGGEST WIMP and I've had four children, with minimal entonox, not ONE stitch and not ONE tear.
OK you will be scared, but you will cope, trust me! I'd have another baby tomorrow if I could, even though I know FULL WELL what I'd have to go through!

I was terrified of the pain with my first child, second and third! Yes, the pain is terrible (had my 2nd child naturally because he came so fast!) but remember, it's manageable especially these days with all the drugs they have. Just make sure you get an epidural between 4-5 cm and you'll be comfortable. The whole time. Thank goodness for modern times! But even if you don't have one, you won't remember the pain later! Good luck.
