Who should pay for damage to cars due to the polluted petrol reported today

If the petrol is polluted then it should be the supplirs to the forecourt, however, I thinkthe actual case is probably the pumps themselves getting contaminated, rather than the fuel, and if this i the ase then Tesco's should pay. Its not that expensive to make sure the vapour recovery systems, pumps, andall electricals within he pumps are working.

If there is a case, I feel any big multinational would have powerful lawyers who would advise them to fight liability tooth and nail.

If it proves a common perception that the petrol is contaminated, at best I think there would only be goodwill payments based on individual circumstances from the multinationals... without any admission of liability whatsoever.... or if so then any blame passed on to the fuel suppliers, who also have high powered lawyers.

I'd rather avoid the problem now I know about it - but sympathise with any person who has been affected.

Your claim would be against the person who sold you the petrol.
