Hmm... Spiral Dynamics looks like a pilot study in comparison to the decades of longitudinal research conducted by Kohlberg and his successors. Perhaps someday it will be as well-developed? It will be difficult to interview pre-historic people to conduct similar studies, however, outside of access to a time machine... Kohlberg, unfortunately, died a while ago (1987): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawrence_Kohlberg

It would say "Spiritual Development, you are alright by me!"

Lawrence Kohlberg committed suicide, but I must respect him for helping the Jewish people escape persecution. The God of the Bible is the greatest expert on moral development and Kohlberg's stages can undergo outside evil spirits and therefore change his stages. He seems to think moral development cannot go backwards. We don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph 6:12 If we do not wear the full armor of God at all times at any level of moral development we can be attacked and go backwards. Coming out from under an evil state of mind can often be impossible without the intervention of God Almighty.

I just want to say thanks, thanks for this intelligent question that elevates the conversation, and that I would recommend doing a yahoo search on spiral dynamics, and that spiral dynamics explains moral developement and spiritual developement very well.

I would also ask Lawrence to read it, and think the two might overlap in more places then at first glance.
