This has been occuring for months, and its the only time my computer freezes.

Make sure you are periodically deleting your internet cache (Tools > Internet Options > Delete files)

Also try Start > Run > CMD (enter) > ipconfig /flushDNS (enter)

You may also want to run a custom update at http://update.microsoft.com and install all high-priority system patches.

Don't know, I would press Ctrl, Alt, and delete and see if somethings taking up space in the task manager. Would be under processes to see.
