I'm using Black and various shades of pink-- baby pink for the ceremony and more vivid pinks for the reception (aka party!). It's very easy to do some do-it-yourself decorations with common colors like black and pink.

Or since you're having the wedding in December, shades of blue would make a beautiful winter wonder land!!! I've seen it so many times in wedding magazines. It's absolutely gorgeous.

I was Dec wedding. I would suggest you approach your site to see exactly how they decoarte for Chirstmas each year (they will have pictures) and go off of that. Usually places do the classic red and green, but sometimes you will get Blue and Silver or some other colors (the place we are having our 10th ann party decorates in victorian pinks) Once you know that I would try to color coordinate with the setting. Since you will most defintely be taking pictures amongst the Chirstmas trees, decorated railings on steps, and Christmas decorations you want to be sure that you wont look weird in a bright purple dress while the decor is red and green, know what I mean. After you know their colors, it will make it easier to pick your motif. If they use red and green you can do the burgandy and ivory, like someone stated above (that was mine and it was beautiful and we matched everything and every where we went that day) If its Blue and Silver I would suggest Navy blue with silver accents (steer clear of white with navy because you run the risk of looking like a "sailor" themed wedding) But get a picture of the decor, it really is your best bet.

Good luck!

I have always thought weddings that color coordinate with the nearest holiday to be cheesy. With that in mind I would stay away from reds and greens. However, Hunter, Burgundy, or Navy looks real nice with Ivory and really stands out against most churches Christmas decorations. Also, ask the minister what colors the flowers will be doing that season. My best friend went with a tealish color for her wedding last spring and the alter candles were pinks and yellows - overall too many colors.
Pick what you think all the people will look good in and you can't go wrong.

I just attended a wedding last year in Dec. and everything was Red and Green. It was a really pretty Christmas Wedding with tons of Christmas trees and christmas lights. They served egg nog and hot chocolate at the reception. But if you're going for more of a winter wedding than a christmas wedding I would do a ice blue and silver.

Indigo and Silver
Crimson and Ivory
Hunter and Ivory
Purple and Gold
Black and White
Cranberry and Ivory
Raspberry and Ivory

Depending on what your favorite colors are go with the jewel toned version ie pink=raspberry lavender=purple.

Also depending on where you are getting married(ie a church) they may already be decorated for the holidays so you may want to go with something that isnt going to clash horribly with their decorations If all else fails go classic black and white it is very elegant

I would suggest a deep red (kind of like cranberry) and ivory. Very classic. Or you could try a dark blue and silver. You'll want to stick with deep, rich shades and a lighter color as an accent.

Midnight blue and ivory.

Ivory because its a trendy color right now. Midnight blue because the dark colors are for winter AND it would get you away from the expected reds and greens of the holiday season.

How about a nice, warm medium brown tone with a deep rich red? Sounds pretty to me, and you can use little chocolates for table decorations. Gotta love chocolates on the tables.

Cranberry & Gold
Purple & Gold
Emerald Green & Gold

They all look beautiful together and would set off a winter wedding very elegantly!
