Christians are people who believe Christ is the son of god. Catholic, methodists, protestants, baptists, etc etc are all different Christian religions. They all have their own culture and different rites and rituals, but they all believe Chrsit is the son of god. Other religions, like Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, etc, don't believe Christ is the son of god. Atheists don't believe in any god. Agnostics don't believe in one certain religion.

To start, you must learn about the history of Christianity. The Catholics and Eastern Orthodox split up in 1064, with the Catholics changing a few rules such as having a leader (the pope), and the Orthodox for the most part staying the same. One could argue, that today's orthodox is very similar to that of a thousand years ago. The Catholics however, have changed many many rules over time. Some people did not like this, and formed their own churches. Lutheranism was created when Luther found there was flaws in the church. Other sects do not allow the consumption of alchol. Another religion was started when King Henry the Eighth wanted to get divorced. These are the differences.

Your question would be better served if you ask why the difference? Read and Remember Ephesians 4:1-5.
Why are there so many different teachings or differences of opinion? It's because the Religious leaders don't use the scriptures in an honest way?
They all want to say they have the right way? and are not willing to use the scriptural way or the test of scripture as the last and finial say and all out Authority? For example 2 Tim 3:15,16, Mathew 11:25.
Mathew 15:9 explains why these Religious leaders Miss-lead? So if you wonder why they do this then you should start testing the things you already accept as truth? You might be surprised when you compare the scriptural answers? I hope this helps? gemhandy@hotmail.com

All of those religions are Christian religions. The Protestant religions such as Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, etc. came into being after the Protestant Reformation, which was basically dissatisfaction with the corruption in the Catholic church (in addition to King Henry forming his own church). Now, different rituals and traditions make the religions separate. Also, interpretation of the Bible (whether the Bible is to be literal or not?) is probably the biggest difference between them. The Eucharist is another big difference (whether it is symbolically Jesus or it is Jesus).

Mainly the differences are a matter of doctrine, that being they emphasize particular aspects of their beliefs more than others. The matter of the Roman Catholic Church is a little different, they claim the 'original franchise' of Christianity. The protestant Churches came out of the Catholic church due to arguments of doctrine. Other denominations developed along side o f the Roman Catholic Church, and were never part of that organization so they do not consider themselves protestants.

nicely I see Yahoo solutions as an section to both ask a question hoping for reliable solutions... Or an section to respond to questions hoping you gave a suitable reaction... Now in a communicate room, you communicate about some thing and each thing, no longer only a question requested... You write to oldsters in genuine time and respond to what they're speaking about... there is not any genuine topic of verbal substitute... yet you're talking to at least one yet another jointly and not at all waiting on an answer like in Yahoo...

I a word:
Politics
All are religions that believe in the Trinity, but have different interperations based on political ideas. Sadly, God knows no politics, despite what too many people think.

Catholic don't allow women to become preists, gays to join church, or non-catholics to preticipate in communion. Christians on the other hand don't take the Bible as literaly as Catholics.Catholics and Methodists suck up to god too much.
