i think men can bear beatings and lashings and wallopings more than we women but we suffer sometimes with painful births..We bear that with dignity because we usually have a cute little prezzie at the end of it. And we are the greatest.....

It is really impossible to tell. Each person is different. What one person rates as a 5 another will say 10. It has to do both with actual pain tolerance and how that particular person was socialized. I don't think there is really too much of a physical difference painwise between the two sexes. Biologically it would make no sense, as pain is our body telling the brain something is wrong.
I was told by an ER doctor (female) about four and a half hours ago that kidney stones hurt worse than childbirth, she has done both. So sorry for all those sexist answers here, the most severe pain is something anyone can experience. Not that childbirth isn't painful.

It's really impossible to say whether the things we experience, someone else experiences in exactly the same way. Scientifically, the nerves of everyone breathing are formed in the same manner and communicate sensation in the same way. So off of this fact--and ONLY this fact--you'd be forced to conclude that yes, women do have the same level of understanding of pain. You'd be wrong, though! Considering that everyone seems to possess a different thresh hold for pain which changes throughout their lives (a little girl who is crying today over a bee sting wouldn't fare well giving birth later on in life is she didn't change this thresh hold), you'd have to pitch your conclusion right out the nearest window. There's even a medical condition that causes one not to feel any pain at all, despite the fact that their nerves still allow them to feel sensations.
So I guess the only safe thing to say is that pain's pretty well-known, and those who feel it don't find it pleasant. This much seems universal to the Animal Kingdom, let alone people (save for that medical condition I mentioned earlier).

Women endure far more intense pain than men. Pain is a regular part of a woman's life. Also, most men don't know this, but you aren't the only ones who see stars when hit between the legs. That is something NOT to do unless you want to die. And men are such wusses that they need pain killers to have an internal exam while the women are expected to just cope with it. Guys can't handle being naked from the waist down and THEY at least aren't even positioned on their backs like women are for an exam. Guys know nothing about pain but they still complain.

Are you a woman? No then you have no idea what pain is. The majority of women from the age of 11/12 go through pain every month, this progresses to child bearing and the pain of your organs being squeezed into an impossibly small space, while your child stretches your skin to its limit, then the joy of child birth, where the father faints, takes pictures/videos, wonders why his wife is calling him rather rude names and digging her nails into his hands (as it hurts him). Then there is the internal to get rid of the afterbirth and then the stitching, where they don't normally give you a local, because the doctor is usually a man and reckons that you will still be numb from the birth (NOT). The feelings of pain (usually in the navel) everytime something happens to hurt your child (or you think they are hurt). Then after that we have the Menopause and all its wonders and glory to go through. No I don't think women have the same level of understanding and feeling of physical pain men have. We tend to carry on whether in pain or not. Men take to their bed with a cold and insist on 24 hour care if they have the flu. Men are definately more sensitive in the pain area.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking here, but through my own observations, I've come to the conclusion that many women have a stronger threshold to physical pain than men. Emotional pain, on the other hand...
I don't mean to generalize, which is why I said "many."

Women have a higher threshold of pain than a man. Additionally, once you've had a child, modesty goes out the door and a woman will sooner go her for "annual" exam without hesitation, while a man will whimper and have a fit if he has to see a proctologist

I've given birth, but I've never felt the pain of being kicked in the jewels. I don't know if the pain even compares to eachother. Some people have a higher tolerance than others. I don't think it's a gender thing as much as an individual thing.

Apparently women have a higher pain threshhold than men! But who knows unless you're a man who was a woman for a day or vice versa!
