I suspect it's different for everybody, but one thing is certain - when you ask Jesus into your life to be your Lord and Saviour there is no doubt at all when he accepts. You will know. You will feel his love, his peace and his compassion. You will wonder where you've been all your life without him. You will understand what he did for you and for me and it will make your heart rejoice. Don't hesitate if you sense that 'knock at the door'. God's time is always NOW. Now is the time to open the door to Jesus and let him in.
I know you will not be choosing a best answer and this question will be left open to go into voting. However, all that matters is that you will read those answers from sincere people who care about you and who are praying for you and that God, through his Holy Spirit, will bring you to saving grace in Jesus Christ.

It was at a school mission with me. I was very aware of God putting the question to me, that is accepting, Jesus as my saviour. I did initially feel very joyful. Some people do have a kind of honeymoon phase after conversion because of a strong sense of closeness to God.
I was very stressed out with school issues, so I was probably part preoccupied with those issues at the time. I was a very slow developer in my faith, stumbling and falling many, many times, but have experienced how good God is, so no other option makes sense for me. It was certainly one of the best days in my life.
I have heard of people being completely healed of addictions on conversion. For that one of the pentecostal/charismatic denominations or churches would be best, as the preaching on the Holy Spirit is much stronger in them. The Holy Spirit does all the supernatural healings and deliverances, working through believers often. Churches not strong on His ministry inhibit what God can do. Many liberal churches rarely preach salvation messages (some probably more see christianity as a moral influence).

First to be saved by Jesus you Must hear the word of God. Romans 10:17 reads" So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing the word of God ".To know that I am a sinner and I deserve Eternity in Hell for just one sin alone ,is frightening. To accept, trust , and believe Jesus as your savior brings you Joy ,Peace , and the assurance from God that he will never leave you or forsake you down here. Knowing that you will live for ever in the presence of God and it's a free gift he offers down here makes it bearable to live in this evil world today

I can agree with the authentic experiences of all the serious respondents so far, and would add that there is also a sense of challenge, to live up to what we have been saved to and from - but also a recognition that as the source of all power God gives us the wherewithal to do that "living up".

Absolutely amazing. To know true peace within is something indescribable. To be given hope, love, reassurance, and so much more. To have the best friend of all, and know that whatever circumstances we are going through, we are not alone.

are you being ignored? maybe folks are tired of answering your questions.
To answer, one receives total peace, a peace that cannot be understood unless it is experienced. Could go on for quite a while, but that is all you really need to know...
