hehe ok now i have your attention

I see so many people ask questions here asking what ways can i be spiritual ... or what possitive things can i learn from Buddhism etc
only for those people to be met with such answers like ...
no you should come to Christ etc
yes if i see a person wishing to become Christian , i will offer web sites etc if i can because i respect the persons wishes and i will answer them in the way they wish and need to be answered
why can't everyone respect these type of questions and answer them as best they can with the information the person is looking for without warnings or negative remarks ?

Can we say Troll? Cuz that's what they are. Atrophied little minions, who believes they are doing the work of the Lord, but have bought into the dogma, and are so afraid of purgatory they believe that as long as they chant the name of the Lord, they will be ushered into his Kingdom *shrug*

As to your question "Why," cant these orthodox and fundamental zealots respect another mans faith?
Probably the same reason we have school yard bullies. Or the same reason, a nonBeliever will call me a delusional, inhumane cult embracing nut case, while the dioceses will call me blasphemous heathen. *confused grin*

... Sarcasm aside, i don't know, that i know the answer. I would say because we are raised with a delusional fear of those who will threaten & denounced our faith.
In the end, the only thing we will have taught our children; is HOW to parent.
The reason we have so much dismissive apathy, is because that's how we were raised and/or exposed to the Church..

..as for the person who answered "..Are you certain you would be really nice to such a person?"

..I'm thinking i can emphatically say *this* gal, (the asker) would be respectful.

If i (a nearly Militant Protester of the Roman Church) can write an unBiased article on the Heavens Gate Cult, & the Goddess Kali, this beautiful nurturing Scottish Medium, most certainly could give unBiased advice, to those seeking the pure teachings of Christ..

Called Christians by Divine Providence
For a whole year, Barnabas and Saul “taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.” It is unlikely that the Jews were the first to call Jesus’ followers Christians (Greek) or Messianists (Hebrew), for they rejected Jesus as the Messiah, or Christ, and therefore would not tacitly recognize him as such by calling his followers Christians. Some think that the heathen population may have nicknamed them Christians in jest or out of scorn. The Bible, however, shows that the name Christians was God-given.—Acts 11:26.
In the Christian Greek Scriptures, the verb used in connection with the new name, generally translated “were called,” is always associated with something supernatural, oracular, or divine. Scholars thus render it “to utter an oracle,” “divinely intimate,” or “to give a divine command or admonition, to teach from heaven.” Since Jesus’ followers were called Christians “by divine providence,” it is possible that Jehovah directed Saul and Barnabas to give the name.
The new name stuck. Jesus’ disciples could no longer be mistaken for a sect of Judaism, from which they were quite distinct. By about 58 C.E., Roman officials knew very well who the Christians were. (Acts 26:28) According to the historian Tacitus, by 64 C.E., the name was current among the masses in Rome too.

You sound so nice and reasonable with how you would answer a sincere question from a person asking how they can become a true follower of Jesus Christ, Son of God. Are you certain you would be really nice to such a person? Are you saying that you would really help someone learn about the truths of the Bible without any distortion? I would like to hear a sample answer to my question, What must I do to become a true disciple of Jesus Christ the Son of God? Will you send your answer to me?

Thank you.

I hear you Pangel. I don't understand why some folks have to be so rude.

If someone asks a question about a religion I happen to know about, I'll try to help them by sharing what I know. I have never felt the need to try and preach my religion at someone or tell them that their's was a false religion. I don't believe there is any such thing as a "false faith", they are all valid. Everyone has different ways of viewing the world, different paths in life, and that's how it should me. If everyone believed the same thing you'd have a void of sameness.

I've been known to ask the odd pertinent question on here. I'm never knowingly disrespectful unless someone is outright rude to me. Because my questions are very questioning and against some religious beliefs I think sometimes they get taken to be meant in a nasty or sarcastic tone but the never are. I'm genuinely fascinated by religions and have lots of questions. I know that I could never be faithful to any organized religion.

They way people answer sometimes astounds me. They call themselves good God loving Christians (or whatever) and yet they're so rude and patronising. I don't mind people quoting verses at me to emphasise their beliefs and I certainly don't mind when people wish me well in the name of their religion. It's politeness on their part whether I agree or not. So I'm not rude to them because they took the time to answer the question and it's all educational stuff. But, it's the rhyming off of verses to tell you how you're damned or will be if you don't change your ways and the smugness that comes from people because you dared question them that I don't understand. The more I'm on here the more I have a healthy respect for people with any religious belief who knows how to moderate their answers without being pious or rude and the less respect I have for those who can't see how being rude is against what they are suppose to believe in. I hope that doesn't sound full of it.

I've always thought it was ok to question God (if He is there) but apparently not if you listen to some people on here. You're supposed to blindly follow THEIR faith with no room for questions or other faiths.

(Sorry about the length. But it's off my chest now at least. LOL)

Sean, excellent answer!! You go mayor!

Pangel - As for me, a "fundie xian," I must say that usually I just do not answer questions that I feel I don't have enough information on. So if someone answers a question about a particular Buddhist philosophy, if I don't know the answer I just avoid the question.

Now, I have answered several questions and given people information on things that I do not agree with. Just recently I answered a question about Chinese Animal years and how they apply to us, even though I do not believe that that is a valid world view. I am not afraid of knowledge and I think we as Christians (the body of Christ) would be in amiss if we tried to "cover up" or hide knowledge about other ways of living. I encourage study and exploration of other thought, because that is what I did before I found Christianity. The other "competing" world views, if you will, just don't make enough sense for me to follow and I believe that through diligent study others will reach the same conclusion.
So in short, I am not afraid of letting people explore, study and make up their own minds.
If I were, I might as well be afraid of something like shampoo, it makes as much sense.

well, the bible tells us to spread the word of Christ. We however are not responsible for people turning to Christ, the Holy Spirit is the one that convicts people. Some Christians are just so admit about their beliefs they want to share perhaps more then they should. I share with those that are interested, if you have your own beliefs there is probably nothing I can say to sway you, however I can pray that the Holy Spirit does touch your heart and you do someday come to Christ. I do know that everyone makes that decision for themselves though. Some people just push too much

Dang! Got me! There I was going to recommend an Alpha course and I find it's you! LOL

Yeah, I agree. Though having said that I tend to give like for like. If the questioner seems to honestly want information then if I can help I don't hesitate. But if they are just being inflammatory I can't guarantee I'm going to give a sensible answer! Though I do try to be thought provoking. And polite. I hope.

Hello Pangel,

Most of the time for me, the best answer is no answer. I agree with the Mayor, it is about Net Etiquette.

I may not know enough about the subject question to even answer or I may know alot about the subject question to answer. It is a judgement call on my part, do I answer or do I pass.

I know that most of the time my answers are probably poorly written and mis-understood. So I steer away from answering most questions I know alot about. Just because they are poorly written and would be mis-understood.

So this is my way as a Citizen of Yahoo! Answers of my Net Etiquette.

Everyone has to find their own path.

For me Christianity has helped more than anything else - perhaps because they are more accessible to me. I have also learned a lot from Taoists, Rastafarians and others. What does that make me? Who knows! What are my beliefs? Pretty hard to sum up.

If anyone were to ask me for spiritual guidance, I would tell them to try to learn a little from everyone they meet then make their own mind up. I am no expert on anything, and can't tell someone what is in their own heart.
