There is a computer at my workplace that is alloted to student workers for our random needs. Since it's unlikely to need the more obscure little programs for random purposes, I have been charged with cleaning it out.

It has been used for many years and many student workers have passed through it. After deleting their leftover usernames and obvious junk programs, and downloading tenebril uninstaller, I notice the following list in the add/remove programs:

Adobe Acrobat 4.0
Adobe InDesgin
Adobe Photoshop 6.0
Adobe Shockwave Player
Adobe Type Manager
AXIS Print Monitor
Corel Business Applications
Filemaker Pro 5.0
HP DeskJet 950C Series(remove only)
HP PerscisionScan and Utilities
Internet Explorer Q896688
McAfee Virus Scan
Microsoft Bookshelf 1998 (remove only)
Microsoft Data Access Components KB870669
Microsoft Excel 97
Microsoft Fax
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional

There are programs here I know I will need, but my main convern are the long named ones such as the windows 98 updates. Which ones of these all will it be safe to delete? particularly of the windows 98 updates?

the computer should have printer capabilities, and is the type that is a laptop with monitor adapter. And there is no ability to buy new software, so it's stuck with what's in it now.

Dont remove the adobe ones, those are very useful for pix and video editing.

the print ones might be drivers for a printer, so dont remove those.

You can remove the Corel and Microsoft IE and Office. You can reinstall later.

A faster way is to just wipe the hard drive and install Windows clean, without any programs and install just the ones you need.

With that much stuff on the machine, you'll be time ahead to just reformat the hard drive and then re-install any NEEDED programs. Make sure you have the operating system and driver CDs that came with the computer (or a "factory restore" CD), and you should be ready to go.

in view which you probably did not let us know what your computing device specs are it fairly is troublesome to comprehend what you're able to do. If that's a 5 + yo turnip not something you do is gonna make it speedy yet whilst it fairly is cutting-edge there are a number of issues you're able to do to make it run like it did on day one.

What exactly is your question? Remove what you think they won't need or just wipe the drive and re-install.
