I just got my braces removed yesterday, first the top retainer didn't fit so my dentist sent it to the lab to have it redone, and I'm wearing the bottom one, but on one side, is hurting my gum reallllllly bad, I've been trying to handle the pain all day, but I just had to remove it, it's kinda going into my gum, is it normal??? and the problem is, I'm only going back to my dentist in 2 weeks, what should I do? I put the wax u know on it, I even filed the rough part with a nail file, but nothing is working...ohhhh and I also took 3 advils today.

Thanks :-(

oh I forgot, since I'm not wearing the retainer on top, there's a gap b/w my front teeth, can that be fixed? and also, my lower teeth in the front are not straight as it was when I had the braces.

Thanks again

Call your dentist and let him know that you are in discomfort. He had special tools that can make adjustments to alleviate your pain. You shouldn't have to go 2 weeks, I'm sure he will find a time he can fit you in before that.

Stop filing, and start dialing !!!! Your dentist needs to know that the one side is causing you so much discomfort. And do it BEFORE the weekend, for it is not good for you to NOT wear the retainer. It is starting you on the road to having beautifully straight teeth. You will be so glad in the years to come.

Good luck !

There's no beauty w/o pain, hon, you should already know that! But yes, pain in your mouth is extremely annoying, maybe try carrying some anbesol on top of the pain meds that you already take - :( Call the dentist though, just to ask if it's normal for it to be irritating your gums like that.
