This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between
Windows Vista and this version of Diablo II. This program was created
by Blizzard.

I would recommend that you contact Blizzard with the issue.
Problems like this happen a lot during the first few months of an OS release. Blizzard will probably already be aware of the issue and have an update in the works.

This sofware is not compatible with Vista , so use another version of Windows to run it.
or
wait maybe they(Diablo producer) release a patch for Vista!

is there any support number you can call that is the problem with vista it some what makes a mess of software and when you call Microsoft for support they want the$$$$$ to help you so call the support for Diablo2

Re-install windows XP.
Wait until Vista actually works.
You cant live without being able to play Diablo 2
it is the mother of all games.

its not compatible with vista yet. you'll have to wait until the maker of diablo2 releases a patch or update for it. go to their site and see if there is one there for you

right click on the diablo.exe file, click on properties, go to the tab called "compatibility" and select "Windows 98" in the list, it worked for me for a few old games :)
