Bush says 'we need a guest worker program, legalization but maybe not a path to citizenship'.

Well, whomever becomes a resident obviously automatically has a 'path to citizenship' so I don't see any change from his prior plan if he is just planning on putting in 'resident' instead of 'citizenship.'

He borrowed the line 'there aready is a path to citizenship' from Isaakson's bill.

Why do I think he is trying to color the ruffles and call it a different shirt?

What do you think of this?

Do you think we are going to see something new or the same old Senate Bill?

Zoe, as a matter of fact, I see the ongoing guest worker program as much worse in impact than a legalization, supposing the legalization were sufficiently screened, and they couldn't bring in family.

When they ran the numbers on the Senate Bill and came up with the bill causing 100,000,000 to come within the time period (have to look that period up again) instead of over 200,000,000 it was only because everyone running the numbers agreed that the maximum number of people who would be able to come wouldn't want to come.

As far as I am concerned, that means it is unlimited immigration as a practical matter.

Well think about it. When the Senate bill was passed, the majority of Dems were in favor of it ( only 2 weren't), About half of Reublicans were in favor of the bill too, the other half stood against the president. House of Rep had a different situation. A lot of the republicans in there were much more in tune with reality ( since they get elected every two years) and were very against any bill, so they blocked the Senate bill. A few democrats were lining up with the Reps on this issue, the rest of them could not wait to sell our country away. This whole scenario happened when the majority of Congress was republican. What do you think is going to happen now that the majority is Democrat? The only thing that blocked the amnesty bill were the Republicans in the house and few democrats.... Hey this is what the voters wanted, because anything other than Republican is better...right?! Our politicians are playing us quite well, we just need to throw any politicians that want to sell our country away out of office, I don't care which party they are with. After the bill was passed, so many emails were forwarded with Senator's names of both parties who betrayed this country. Sadly enough, almost all of them got the loyal vote again from the same people. This is like the dog that keeps coming back to it's vomit.... Now everyone's attention is shifted politically so in the globar warming crap, as our economy, values, population are being destroyed in front of our eyes, our liberal society seems to be very concerned with environment. This is what I call STUPID! I also love it when Bush and his new best Friends ( democrats) talk about all the tax revenue the illegals will bring. They seem to keep to themselves that these "new citizens" will be low income people, who can now not only use state wellfare but federal government wellfare too. Oh and let's not forget the amount fo deductions they will receive for each child ($2500) each year for being poor. Life is sweet in the USA for the thief!

Bush is a liar and a Globalist, he is not working for the American people even though we are paying him, he is working for the corporations that have company's in Mexico and other countries where they can get cheap labor, Now I heard on the news they want the Mexican truckers to be free to drive our free ways, because the company's want cheap transportation, they don't give a dam about the safety of our highways as long as their goods get across. They don't care if the can't read English or follow the rules. We already have a guest worker program it's called illegal immigration come one come all. If you have noticed they are still coming and their is no fence and never will be. The government dose not care what the American people want, they check with the company's first. And the Democrats will be no different. Nothing has changed since the Dem's took over in Congress. Bush will keep preaching the guest worker program until most of Mexico poor is over here and he is out of office. Nothing will change. The Bush family dose not care about this country, they have their ivory tower.

It makes no sense to me because we still have the issue of deporting these people once their visas expire. I mean if they went by the letter of the law for "guest workers" they have to have an employer be responsible for them. They can't quit without being deported. They can't qualify for any federal aid or other freebies...which would be ok if it weren't for the "anchor baby" loophole, emergency care....etc. Still does nothing to address the issue of learning English. Still does nothing to addressing "tearing the family apart". It just seems it's nothing more than open borders and we're still left holding the bag and none of the issues addressed.

I heard 2 stories today where Mexico is going to have a more compassionate attitude about allowing more South American "guest workers" in to do the construction and service industry jobs. (Ugh....we have your citizens here doing those jobs and we don't need them. So I guess the jobs are there...) They will take them up on that but their intention is to still come to the US.

Then another story where the men in Mexico who have stayed there and tried to make a go of it are looked down upon because the families want them to come here because they send more money back. I mean come on! This freebie business has got to go. There's people here that need and have the right to work and live as well.

Everyone already know's how I feel. No one wants to think about the de Americanization this country is going through right now. Politically correctness, and cultural sensitivity is going to drive this country into a future Mexi-Meri-Canada.

Our political leaders need these two things that they were born with but seem to have lost somewhere along the line. BALLS. No one wants to step on toes, and do whats right. This won't be realized until our children are celebrating Cinco De Mayo hand in hand with the Fourth of July. It's total bs.

What´s this about 40,000 illegal Chinese remaining in the US because China refused to take them back? That´s appalling! China should have no choice but to take them back, they´re THEIR people after all. What nerve. So amnesty must obviously have been given to these 40,000 illegals. What if other countries catch wind of China´s policy and start refusing to take back THEIR illegals too? Amnesty is a bad move all the way around.

You know the only way to get them to leave and not come back is to help fight corruption and crime so their economy will improve. I'd be in favor of spending the money on that instead of a wall, amnesty or any of those things. Otherwise, even if you deport people and build a wall, most of them will find a way to get back in. They could take a plane to Canada and walk across that way. They could sneak into Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands and take a cruise here. They could pretend to be Cubans and get automatic refugee status. Enforcement alone can never work. Their countries have to improve. We spend so much toppling leaders we don't like, how about instead of buying all their natural resources and selling them cheap beef and corn and putting their farmers out of business, we help them get some politicians who don't steal. How about we send some military to take out those drug lords. How about a world where the illegals never come in the first place?

We all know whatever Bush says is most likely a lie.Tomorrow he'll have something different to say.The guest worker program is an idea for newcomers but what does he plan to do with the thousands already here ?

Color the ruffles and call it a different shirt. Priceless.
One of the things Bush realizes is that immigrant labor is the foundation of our economy. Get rid of all the immigrants and the very people who are against them will be the first to screech when our economy crashes down. But Bush doesn't know we're smarter than we look and tries immature word spinning on us.

What Bush didn't include is what to do when the guest workers vista expires and they decide not to leave. So we will have amnesty after amnesty after amnesty

I think he is trying every way he can to get amnesty. And I personally would rather send the 20 million or more illegals here back to mexico. It might cost alot, but it couldnt possibly cost as much as its going to if we let them stay.
