Go down to your local library. they'll be bursting to the seems with them.
I once went and looked in my local library for old pictures of my home town (Stranraer in Scotland) and was amazed at the amount they had. There were litrally 6 or 7 filing cabinets FULL of them dating back to when this town consisted of only three small cottages miles apart.
Well worth a visit.
