Well, the engines may be different sizes, but they may be the same. The spring on the 350 will be stronger then on the 250. Otherwise they are about the same truck, just the payload capacity will be different.

In addition to the spring rates, the 1976 F250 had a narrow (~34") straight frame, that was exceptionally stout. Due to the narrow frame, the cab mounts were outboard of the frame, and it ran massive front leaf springs. The transfer case on the 1967-77.5 F250 was also divorced, or separated by a driveshaft, from the transmission. Due to the longer front drive shaft, the front springs and a block in the rear suspension gave the F250's a much taller stance than other trucks of the day, with the end users creating the term I endearment "Highboy". This was never used in factory literature, and is more of a community created term.

350's are 1 ton trucks and 250's are 3/4 ton trucks. So the only difference is in the suspension. The body and engines are same.
At least the engine options were the same for both models. As I recall, 76 was a while ago.

some vehicles are equipped with all wheel drive, meaning they are in 4x4(high) at all times. this provides better traction, but can reduce fuel economy. vehicles that state they are 4x4 mean they have a transfer case, and you can "lock in" the front tires so they will drive along with the rear, giving you better traction. normally 4x4 vehicles, the back tires are the only driving force untill you engage the front tires. also, 4x4 vehicles generally have a 4x4 low, and a 4x4 high. the 4x4 low is for extreme traction, at a low gear ratio, meaning you cant drive over 20-30 mph because of low gear ratio. the 4x4 high, is for higher geared traction, such as rainy conditions, thus all wheel drive, and 4x4 high are basically the same, other than you can go from 4x2, to 4x4 high, to 4x4 low, and a all wheel drive basically stays in 4x4 high all the time..... whew...........

the 350 is a one ton truck the 250 is a 3/4 ton, the one ton will be heavier, stiffer to be able to have the extra load carrying capacity.
