You're travelling to some village. At some point there is a fork in the road. You could go two ways but only one of them leads to the village. Lucky for you there are two men standing next to the fork. But unfortunately one of them always lies and one always speaks the truth and you do not know who is who. Since the men do not really like to help you, you are allowed to ask one of them only one question. Which question should you ask?

You ask either man "If I asked the other man which way to go which way would he say?"

Then you go the opposite way

Heres the reasoning:

If you are talking to the truth teller, he knows that the other guy would lie, so he'd point you in the wrong direction.

If you are talking to the liar, he knows that the other guy would tell the truth, but he will lie and point you in the wrong direction

Man! Basiclly Everyone took my answer. That riddle was originated in Arabia it goes like this
"You are in a room and being punished, the room has 2 doors in it, one door leads you to freedom and the other leads to getting hanged, there is one guard standing by each door one always lies and one always tells the truth and you can only ask one question to one guard. How do you get out?"
I won about 250 on bets for that riddle. I say You have 3 days to figure it out and if you don't you give me 20 bucks. Works everytime!

hi YA faucet! That sounds quite unreasonable! a undeniable guy replaced into going to the open marketplace sooner or later. He replaced into going there to sell his grain, his goat, and his lion. He discovered a deep and huge raging river he mandatory to circulate. there replaced right into a small boat to ferry for the era of with yet basically he and one passenger would extra healthy. How did he get to marketplace with all 3 without dropping one them? If he left the lion and the goat on a similar time as he moved the grain the lion would consume the goat. Likewise if he took the lion the goat would consume the grain. If he took the goat first and placed it on the different ingredient,he would run in to a similar situation. there have been no wood ,posts,to tie the animals to. The boat replaced into anchored in the water. How did he do it? {:<)

This is a good old logic conundrum...

Ask either of them: "What will he say is the way to the village?"
Then go the other way...

You either asked the one that tells the truth, or the one that lies.
IF it is the one that tells the truth, he knows the other will lie and tell you the wrong way, so the answer he gives will be the wrong way to go...

IF it is the one that lies, he knows the other will tell the truth, but he will lie about their answer and tell you the wrong way to go...

So, with this simple question, you are guarenteed to get the correct way to go.

You ask one of them..."If I asked the other guy which path would lead me to the village, which path would he tell me to take?" Then you take the other path

REASONING:

If you happen by chance to ask the Liar...he knows the Honest guy would tell you to choose path B but because he well, lies, he will tell you path A.

If you were to ask the Honest guy then he know that the Liar wold tell you to that he would choose path A.

SO either way ask that ?, then take the other path

You should ask one of them which road would the other one take to the village. Then you go the opposite way.

But how would you know that one of them always tells the truth and the other always lies?

you walk up to one of them and you hold up 3 finger and ask how many finger are you holding up...
if he's the liar he won't say 3... if he tells the truth he will say 3
then you go to the next man and ask which road leads to the village...
if the first man answered your finger question correctly then you go the opposite direction of the second man's answer...
if the 1st man answered your question the wrong way... then go the direction the 2nd man told you to go...
People stop overanalyzing the question

which path would the other guy tell me to go down. Whatever he says do the opposite. If he is the truth teller he will tell you the truth of what the liar would say and so you would need to take the other path (like he would say go right, so you would need to go left). If the liar is the one talking he would lie and tell you the worng path ( he would say go right so you would need to go left)so you would take the other one .

Which path will the other guy say is the right path? They will both point the same way, because the lier will point to the wrong path, and the truthteller will know this, so he will point in the wrong path, also. So, go the way they didn't point!
