The Gaia hypothesis is an ecological theory that proposes that the living matter of planet Earth functions like a single organism. I rather like the idea and think it has merit, but some scoff at it as almost being a form of religious belief. It basically says that all life on Earth is working to keep the Earth's environment stable in a way that is advantageous to life.

I'm a Christian, so I will always regard the Bible as true, and whatever theories contradict it as erroneous. (just so you know my orientation).

The Bible clearly states that God originally created the earth as having one single continent. It says a river came out at one point and divided into four heads and went into the four different regions to water the earth. This is probably where we get our tradition of a four pointed compass.

It was at the time of the flood that the face of the ground was changed.

Go look at a globe, now find Jerusalem. As you can see, the world island (Eurasia/Africa) looks like it was pushed from east to west, but because the area around Jerusalem didn't move (because that's where the river came out) there's a large trench to the west of Jerusalem (which today we call the Mediteranean).

Evidently, the Americas were free to flow to their present position notwithstanding the meteor or comet that created the Gulf of Mexico.

By the way, the word "gaia" is the greek word for earth or land.

It deals with ecological balance.

Just one example plants take nutrients from soil and shed there leave from time to time and replenish the soil with more nutrients.
During day light or if kept under artificial day light bulb it uses carbon dioxide, for photosynthesis, gives out oxygen. At night it uses Oxygen and gives out carbon dioxide.

Gaia is the collective inteligence of the concept of the total body of water on this planet,we are just components of this intelligenge.99 out of 100 of all the molocules in our bodies is water.(the same ratio as water on this planet)

our individual intellegence is centered in that but the intelligence continues out side the individuals, the whole planet is alive ,a living organism.
Water being the nervous ,circulatory and digestive systems

there is a fish a distant cousin of the salmon which at the spring tide, waits for the highest wave(and out of the hundres of waves there is only one that is the highest)to carry her up into the rockpools to deposit the eggs.
how does it know which is the highest wave????

the young fish take 3 weeks to devellop by which time the second highest wave returns them to the sea
.how do they know which is the second highest wave.how do the eggs know they got 3 weeks to devellop,

This suggest another form of intelligence that exists out side the fish and the answer is the water
.Many examples of this outside intelligence exist all over the place in the air(which is classified as water which is diluted but subject to the same laws only 4 times the speed.)

there is a spider which sticks its rear end in the wind and shoots out a strand of web which acts as a parachute and the wind takes it to another place where all his brothers and sisters are, several spacies do this by the millions and all of them end up in different places but grouped in the in dividual species

.How does the spider know which piece of wind is for him to take it to the correct location where is the intelligence, again the answer is the intelligence is beyond the spider it comes from the body of water in this case the aquiferous manta (the wind)

another example of this is the millions of birds that migrate all over the world, contrary to what many people think the birds do not just fly there, they are carried by wind currents that encompass the globe ,like getting on the bus.

how do the birds know which is their wind current that for example goes to the Bahamas and not the one for another bird that goes to south Africa

where is the intellegence.

American Indians have always been aware of this intelligence and called it Manitoe,we call it Gaia
and it is the intelligence of the organism called Earth

Pagan religions have named induvidual charactaristics of the whole concept as their gods
the God of thunder, the god of wind,of Water or Rain
the chief gods being the Sun and the Moon.

all life is life upon life in series of increasing dimensions.
to the microbes on our bodies ,and their are millions of them living in ambiosis with us ,to whom we must seem like gods,
they in turn have life upon them scaled down .
Going into the other direction we are the microbes on the living entity in the next dimension ,this being the Earth itself.OUR FIRST LEVEL OF GOD,

The planets and the cosmos in turn are the components of a giant life form into a dimension beyond our vision and comprehension.Itis said that there are as many planetsin the cosmos . as there are molecules in our brain.

chains of life upon life .dimension upon dimension, our vision limited to the imediate, but neither below or beyond .And we have invented religions to accomodate our ignorence.
