I have heard that blue fades to gray... and i honestly don't want gray hair. =)
i want my hair to be blue and PERMANENT. that's the big thing.
i want to be able to go swimming and wear clothes and not worry about it coming off.
my friend went to a salon and asked about blue hair dye, and her stylist said that the reason most places don't have it is because it is used with food coloring...
and you can't dye over food coloring.
and food coloring can stain. duh.
so i would like to know if there actually IS a permanent blue hair dye like there is for natural colors, if it will stain/run, if it will fade to gray, and if you can BLEACH over food coloring dyes.
thanks a lot.

Try Garnier %100 Color -- Blue Black:

you can get it at Walgreens, Walmart, and I think also at Target.

I have dyed m y hair numerous colors, and I have never been able to find a hair dye (in unnatural colors) that is permanent. The best brand I have used is Manic Panic... I swear by it! But as a heads up it does fade and blue will fade to a grayish color. For the best look, first bleach the hair then dye it. I would not recommend washing it daily as everytime you wash it the color will bleed out. Touch ups (to the color) need to be done about every two weeks or so, full process (with the bleach) only every month or so. I recommend also getting a deep conditioner like L'Oreal Natures Therapy, as with all the processing your hair can get damamged. As well as blow dry you hair after you wash it because it will bleed a bit onto pillow cases, clothes, etc... good luck!

My cousin colored a section of her hair blue for a wedding. She would have to wash it in the sink, because the hair needed to be divided between the color treated and the non-color treated, this way the blue didn't fade to grey and didn't run into the non-color treated hair, making it green or light blue. I've never colored my hair an unnatural color, so not sure what brand to use.

I know for a fact that there is a hair color called Blue Black. It is a dark blue color, made by Clairol, that is a level-3 (permanent) hair dye. For a lighter blue or more vibrant blue color, you could bleach your hair to a platinum-dark blonde and buy a permanent hair dye from MANIC-PANIC. You can go online to order some. They have hair dye in ALL colors. It's manicpanic.com
GOOD LUCK!

ive dyed my hair blue like 10 times and its a pain.some peoples hair has better luck than others.the biggest problems i had it would turn green or fade easily.if you bleach over it it will more likely turn green or kindof purple.kool aid actually works really good for a semi permanent hair dye. manic panic is also a good brand for blue

I dont know where you live but you could try going to a beauty store called Ricky's NYC (http://www.rickys-nyc.com/).
They have every funky product you can find, and I believe they can help you find what you're looking for. Find out their locations.
