Quitting smoking itself will probably make you gain a bit of weight.
Nicotine speeds up your metabolism and when smokers quit this causes your metabolism to slow down. Between that fact, and the habit of eating more due to the oral habit you are breaking...you're bound to gain weight...without the shakes. And be a lot healthier too!

How to gain weight or lose it is really a multi million dollar question and industries rake in tons of mullahs supplying their solutions to that question. Best thing to do in cases like yours is to seek qualified medical advice as you have to be sure there is nothing medically wrong before you start on a weight gaining diet. Stopping smoking IS definitely anytime a good thing and it dus help you get a better appetite too which might indirectly help in the weight gain.

Stopping smoking is a great idea. Most people fear quitting because of the weight they may gain. In your case, it is a win-win situation. Other than that, eat bigger portions and always include a sugary desert. Gaining weight is easier than losing weight though, so don't get in a bad habit. Try to eat large portions of healthy food to gain "healthy" fat. Good luck!

Yeah, stop smoking.
Also, drink protien shakes and eat anything with protien. If you can lift weights too.

This is tough but if you can get a vitamin B12 shot, that will increase your appetite. I don't know if it's your thing, but many bodybuilders smoke weed after workouts to enhance their eating capacity as well.
other option, force feed yourself and drink 2 gallons of water a day.

1st you cant just stop smoking. you could try, and why would you want to GAIN weight? confusing... I suggest Mc donalds lots and lots of Mc Donalds.
