Maybe you should consider taking a leave of absence for a year and half. That way, both are free to pursue whatever. If the love is real, and still there, you can resume this again.

If you and your boyfriend write letters to each other and he calls you when ever he can and you chat with each other on line or send emails back and fourth it is a sign that he really cares, if he doesnt make any effort and you always have to contact him, and he dosent send you presents or letters then I wouldnt wait for him. You really have to trust him if there is no trust there dont wait if there is and you really do love each other wait, because love wil see you through!

People do it all the time in the military for deployments. Reservists are deploying 18 months. So, absolutely it can be done, but it takes regular communication and huge commitment with honesty and faith in order to do it. Good luck

Sure, you can wait that long, but why should you? He won't.
He is going to be a different person when he returns home. You probably won't have the same relationship.
Turn him loose and get on with your life.

depends on a lot of things! how old are you?
how serious were you before he left?
it will be hard for both of you to remain faithful in a long distance relationship......one will always be wondering what the other one is doing and with WHO.....
IF it is meant to be, it will work out some how....i would say, go out have fun with your friends......but tell him to be HONEST with you and you with him......that if either of you meets someone else.....you will tell them......

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst - that's the best saying for any type of relationship, and it would apply to yours also. Only you two will be able to decide that.

You're too young to put yourself on a shelf for that long.

If you truly love him, and he truly loves you, it'll last forever - not just a year and a half!
