I think that for the most part, people can control their health destiny through diet. Governments heavily subsidize the meat industry and the pharmaceutical industry too. All in the name of the almighty buck. But people do pay taxes which does get allocated to health, at least here in Canada. More of the healthy people are starting to demand that there be more taxes on things that make people unhealthy such as cigarettes and food choices. This is a great way to hit people where it counts the most,... in their pocket books.

No disease and sickness have always been part of mankind. What is ironic is that in our "advanced" curture we are prolonging lifespans by making it disease more controllable through the use of medical techniques and medicines.

The real challenge comes when the life span grows to the point at which the young people will HAVE to pay to take care of the old people - who will not be able to work - due to age.

Will the youth of tommorow pay for the monthy bill of $500 for the medicines per person to keep me alive? - That's and interesting question....

Money drives our economy. Pharmaceuticals play a big part and they encourage disease and the belief thereof. The media propagates this. We wouldn't be sick if we didn't believe in sickness. And we would have more money if we didn't believe that money or the love thereof was evil.

I think it's fear of disease and sickness that drives the healthcare industry. Their ads are turning us into a country of hypochondriacs.
