I like him, but I thought he was 'out of my league' because he is a senior and I am a junior, and we only have one friend in common.

A couple of people have guessed that I liked him, and told me he acts different around me, smiling a lot, finding time to spend with me. I thought I noticed it too, but then I wasn't sure when I found out people 'joke' that he likes someone else.

In theatre arts we are reciting poems for a competition, so we went to the auditorium to practice projecting and stuff. He needed someone on book for him. My friend said she would do it, and I said I would do it at the same time, and he chose me. She was jokingly saying, "oh, do you like her better?" and another friend said "That's because he wants her!" and everyone else(all 8) chimed in saying the same thing.
I wish they hadn't done that. It just makes things awkward. He heard, but was walking away.

What do I do? Do I make the first move? What does that mean? I've never had a boyfriend before.

There are no leagues. Just ask him out. If he says no because you're too young then he's a shallow bltch who doesn't deserve to ever have real love. (Real love, not high school crushes)

First of he sounds shy...
Approach as a friend and then allow things to progress naturally and commfortably. If you are not comfortable with the friendship progressing to something more then being friends coudl still be a good thing.

Sometimes people ge crushes on people because of things they admire about eachother... just make sure and the only to know for sure is to become friends first.

It isn't easy with people snikering. They may simply know something you don't but that doesn't matter.

You matter and he matters. They have nothing to do with a friendship, crush, relationship or otherwise. You do and he does. How each of you feels or doesn't feel is not really anyone else's business.

Hang out together sometime in the library where there are less prying eyes if need be but, if there is a real love there neiher of you is doing yourself a favor by hiding it--- because others seem to notice it.
Keep in mind he is a senior. A year in high school is a year but there are experiences neiher of you may be aware of.. so proceed with care for yourself and respect for eachother.

If there is nothing there then you will both find new crushes quickly...
