The only way to be certain one way or the other is by having your dentist take x-rays. Then the dentist will know if your wisdom teeth erupting will disrupt your other teeth or if they are impacted (meaning growing in sideways due to a lack of jaw space). Every year your dentist should be performing x-rays on your teeth to make sure there are no abnormalities. If you're experiencing pressure or pain let your dentist know right away.

If an abscess develops or has developed (an infection in your gums) as a result of impaction it could create more than oral health problems if the abscess should rupture.

Before your wisdom teeth erupt your gums will be tender on the top as the teeth push through but searing pain is not normal.

Most insurance plans cover x-rays 1x every 12 months along with 2 cleanings per year with an office visit co-pay (if applicable).

Hope this helps!!

Pain when eating. See a dentist, they can tell if your wisdom teeth are impacted or not. When my wisdom teeth started coming in, the back of my mouth was very sensitive. It took a while for all of them to come in, but, now it's fine.

Wisdom teeth most often need to be pulled because they can cause severe crowding of the rest of your tooth which causes them to go askew and can result in other problems. If you can't floss your teeth without excess pressure you have crowding and should probably get them pulled. See a family dentist and get x-rays.

You don't have to have any signs or symptoms. You do have to go to the dentist and be xrayed. You should be getting xrays at LEAST every 2 years anyway. I had no pain or problems, but after routine xrays, the dentist said mine had to come out because they were impacted (under my other teeth).

Some people feel pain/pressure. But not necessarily.

Ivollball; You'll realise you've been putting-up with a "squeezing sensassion" -for a [longish time].
Then when you can see puss, 'round one of them.. you'll
THEN know, you (first) require a course of anti-biotics
-from your dentist.
Now while you have time, get your hands ON 4 "Panadeine Forte"
-or, at LEAST "naprosen Plus".

When the 'big day' comes, know [the] time the dentist will "attack" you.
And swallow 4 "Fortes". one-and-a-half hours, before you are to 'sit in his chair'.
IF you have one Valium, take that (also) -at THE same time;
and you will not, then endure the distress-of it all. Believe me;
(I had a 'friendly' doctor that, on such request, would even give one Pethidene..
-But Pethidene is NOW banned -'world-wide'.. so it's a case of:
"back to the good ol' Codeine/Morphine"): use it -in Pndn. Forte..
-and you "will-not-mind".. much, at all.

Pain. And indication on x-ray that the wisdom teeth won't "erupt" correctly if left alone.

Some people CAN keep thier wisdom teeth.

That, my dear, is one of the symptoms! You are VERY lucky, mine never bled, it wasn't until the roots formed that I had to get mine pulled out. OUCH. Please go to your dentist, who will either perform the extraction herself or send you to a specialist. Lucky you! Sounds like the roots haven't grown yet, so it'll be a pinch pulling it out. Go! Now! The faster, the less painful. Good luck! -Jenna P.S. Many people are scared of it hurting.. It doesn't hurt with proper freezing. Make sure to care for the hole so you don't get DRY SOCKET, a nasty infection. Look it up. ;)
