My digital camera is playing up.
I have a black screen, no picture but everything else seems to be working ok.
It takes a picture but it is black on the screen
The make is Minolta Dimage X20.
Does anyone know what could be wrong???
Thanks in advance.

There's no manual viewfinder so no option to turn monitor off.

Hi!
I had the same problem with one of my canon digital cameras.
Don't think I'm being daft, but I just had to whack it on the side and it was ok for a while.
It kept doing it, and I kept whacking it each time it played up.
Not sure if this is the answer you're looking for!
But, best of luck!!

On my model (a Pentax) it has an option which turns the display off (to save power for viewfinder shots). It's a small chance you've hit an option like this (scour the manual), most likely you just have a broken display (stating the obvious, I know).

My Sony did the same thing. I decided to buy a new camera as mine was quite old, i got it when digital camera's first came out. I have just checked it out and it seems to be working again. It has been switched off for a while now.

Off hand, I would have to say that the camera has been subjected
to a lot of heat. Heat will destroy an LCD screen. The black
screen is a dead giveaway that heat was the problem.

check if the battery is fully charged as the display needs alot of power.
or
if there is a reset feature, then reset the WHOLE camera
or
make sure theres no cable (USB) attached while you switch it on
or
look at the manual for trouble shooting
or
take it back to the retailer

I would suggest to check your owner's manual first to look for a possible explanation and an advice.
One of the several possibilities is that you set by an error "turn of monitor".
