In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan's power is nothing to Gods... for even God control and restrains Satan's powers, look at Job, in the Bible, Satan asked God if he could test Job to see if he truly love God, and God allowed him to, but even in that gave him limitation... in the end it was to glorify God. God uses everything in order to glorify himself... while he may weep, for us when we sin against him, but that is not a weakness... everyone feels sorrow... it is an emotion, and just because Satan can fool us into doing wrong against God (causing him to feel sorrow) doesn't mean God doesn't have control... but then one might be like,"well then why do bad things happen to good people, or to people in general...?" if that is you train of thought, then you must dig deep into theology, and understand the concept that every man is just as sinful as the other, while one sin may hold a different punishment doesn't mean it is a sin, example, (easy contrast) Hitler, and a Man(average non-criminal) they are both worth, in God's (must understand that God is PERFECT and cannot tolerate any sin what-so-ever) eyes, the same. We all are the reason for pain and suffering... because of this when we accept Christ into our lives, we realize that we are not worthy of any forgiveness, yet grace has allowed us to be forgiven. Because of this a saved soul gains a tone of Joy and love because they feel overwhelmed by grace an want and desire to do what God has commanded of them. While that was a tangent to your question the principle is that even Satan must bow to God, and he will, as far as exorcism, and why do they sometimes fail? well that would depend on the priest spirituality when he goes into the fight between him and the demon... he must prepare himself, and if he doesn't than might lose Faith in God's ability to help and that weakness loses the battle... those are two different questions... one between God and Satan, and Man and Satan. as a man we are not as power full as God, so we call upon God through our faith... anyway
good luck...
here a verse for you
James 2:19
the context t is that James is talking about faith and salvation and he refers to the demons even knowing God exist yet shutter, and this holds some insight that demon do fear God, even though they are against him...
It says
"You believe that there is a God. Good! Even the demons believe that -and shutter."

It is not that satan can resist the power of God, it's just that the person trying to use God's power may not have enough faith to cast out satan. There is a scripture where someone was trying to cast out a demon. The demon said "Paul I know, Jesus I know but who are you?". In reference that some have little faith. Just know satan knows when the power of God is spoken because the Word says "demons tremble at the name of Jesus".

No. No sin that Satan commits causes God's pain. Jesus came to earth to atone for the sins of mankind, not Satan. Now, if you said that every sin that we commit causes God's pain, I could go along with you on that.
Re-enactments of exorcisms are just Hollywood exaggeration. I sincerely doubt that most of those Hollywood types have even seen a possession or exorcism. Few do.
In cases where exorcisms do not work, it is because of one of two things. 1. The person attempting to cast out devils does not truly have faith himself. 2. Jesus said to the apostles after they were unsuccessful that sometime we cannot cast out devils except through fasting and prayer.

No they don't have a resistance to Gods powers. People are trying to do the exorcisms and they don't have any power, they can just use scripture.
God made Satan, and Satan is no match for God. Period , end of discussion!

The evil energies of Satan, are powerful, think what is happening and what have happen in the world when energies, have been realize like Bombs, and so forth,???, when they have not been use for some good, creative and positive, but for negativity's?, is that simple?.... lol..., But doesn't all, Remember that isn't your work and not your responsibility to help in this figth, but just by been positive and sensitive to good, to HIM and to jesus His Only Son you can make the diference, look at what he create it, and not what man have reproduce, because creativity is some of the images we have from HIM, equality is found within your own mind and only values as well by been positive. just keep pushing toarch positivism, good, right up, and so forth, The oposit of Good is bad, and that is the way will always be, Satan or not Satan. and because God isn't from this world, of matter, we can also become part of his non-matter's existence its his dreams for us, to have such ambition, and desires to become with HIM(God), and in his world of heavenly things for all eternities. God bless you.<

I disagree with Satan being equally powerful. Satan started out as an angel for God, and he betrayed him. He was then sent to live underground which is now known as hell. So if God was able to condemn Satan to where he is, it's pretty obvious he is more powerful. Plus God created everything, Satan only influences our lives and makes u do bad. So what is more powerful? creating all of us, or just influencing us?

No Satan never challenged Gods power for he knew he will not be successful. What he challenged was Gods right to rule mankind, saying God was hiding the good and bad from Adam and Eve.

Upon a close examination of the bible, you will find that Satin is indeed more powerful than God. God cannot destroy Satin, nor can he stop him. God, during the Armageddon will be helpless to stop Satin's evil. I am not satanic, but you too will come to this conclusion if you truly look at the bible.

No satan is little as a point. He has a power over those who don't believe in God , don't trust in God etc, so satan can make a man who does not believe in God ,not be able to walk ...and can give ideas but we can reject them if we care...
