After making cupcakes and adding the frosting, if you were to set them in a plastic container to "travel" how would you stop the frosting from sticking and getting everywhere?

There are cupcake totes available from many stores online. They resemble the cupcake baking tins - which you can also use to transport them; just put 1/2 a marshmallow in the bottom so that you can get them out again without messing them up.
Most people I have seen put toothpicks into the cupcakes, and then cover them with plastic wrap.

Wow, I honestly can't tell you. There is no way to stop that frosting. I make cupcakes a lot and have to travel with them, the best thing I know how to do with normal household items is to twist newspaper into long strips and then place around the cupcakes. Or push them all to one side of the container and put some sort of small box or video on the other side so they don't go sliding around. I have never had a clean container by the end of my trip so if you get a good reply, please tell me!

don't put the frosting on the cupcakes until after you have arrived at your destination. If this is impossible, stick a toothpick in each one half-way and then cover with plastic wrap - the toothpicks will keep the plastic wrap from touching the frosting.

You can stick toothpicks into the top of the cupcakes to prevent the plastic wrap from sticking to the frosting.

my favorite way to do it is to decorate the tops of the cupcakes with a piece of candy like a marshmellow or gumdrop or jelly ban or chocolate rosette. If you pick a candy that isn't too small it will keep the plastic wrap above the frosting.
Yummier than toothpicks!

put a long type of toothpick into the cupcake through the middle and place them back into the pan's holes this will keep them altogather and still. then just keep them in a safe place in the car, you dont need to cover the tops

You cant really, I always take a little thing of extra frosting for touch-ups or what works even better is sprinkles. You cant even see the messed up frosting..... And who doesnt like sprinkles.

put a toothpick in each cupcake then put some kind of wrap over them. the toothpicks make the wrap "tent" over the frosting so it doesn't stick.

I use toothpicks to prevent anything from touching the frosting.
