I am a single mother. I have looked at the official recruiting site but wondered if anyone could give me information from experience, advice, or suggestions.

Well first off, what do you want to do? The Air Force has many different jobs. I would recommend a medical job. I would also recommend asking someone who has the job you want, how they like it. The best way to get a job description is directly from someone who does it, and no from a recruiter. When you sign up you will go to boot camp (Texas) for 10 weeks. Boot camp is not bad as long as you can fallow directions. After boot camp you will go to your tech school (for your job). After that you will be stationed at your reserve base. Only 2 days a month 2 weeks a year. The two weeks are great, because those two weeks could be spent traveling around the world. I love being in the reserve. Its a great time, you get great programs (GI bill, bonus, BX, etc). This is a brief summary. camezcua9@yahoo.com if you have more Q's oh and having a kid is okay.

For a single mother, the Air Force reserve is probably the best choice. The deployments are typically shorter(only 4 months) and you can still get a lot of benefits and experience while serving your country.

Two of my friends are in the Air Force reserve and they LOVE it.

Thank you for at least considering joining. If you want to know more you can email me.

Do you have a place to put those children should you get deployed? That is the number one question they are going to ask you. If you do, be prepared to deploy. A recruiter would be your best source of information and could possibly give you other active reservist you can talk to and ask questions.

With the war going on right now and the air force birds being needed for carriers and drops it is very likely you could be put on active they mostly need pilots though, I'm guessing your a technician or engineer?

You need to actually go to see the recruiter face-to-face. They'll give you the real skinny - 'cause if they lie to you, they'll go to prison! And the criteria for enlistment is in flux, so you need to talk to the people who will have the absolute latest information - and that's the recruiter!
