Go to CNET.com and read their review of Vista and that should answer all your questions

Good: more up to date, has better graphics, has directx 10, slightly more secure

Bad: Huge requirements for what is essentially XP with eye-candy, annoying security (watch the Mac commercials - they're so funny), you need to buy a new computer to run it, DRM takes away your rights to play your music / videos as you wish - people have found that their sound is either crappy or doesn't work at all.

All in all? Vista is NOT a way you'll want to go. Either stay with XP, or switch to Mac or Linux (yes! Linux! Search for "Beryl" on YouTube)

And whatever you choose to do... use Firefox! http://getfirefox.com/

In my opinion it is the most restrictive operating system ever.
It is loaded with DRM that severly limits what it will allow you to do with your own computer.
Don't believe it?
Then you should read this short article from Forbes Magazine.

That should answer all of your questions about Vista.
Infact Vista is so bad that many people are looking for alternatives in the form of Linux and Mac and the Windows addicts that are agrivated with it are inquiring as to how they can revert back to XP.
