O.k I have two speeding tickets, let me explain my situation better:
back in september of last year, i got a speeding ticket, i went to court and paid the 104 fine to start defensive driving...i never took it.
Last month i got stopped again and i got a speeding ticket and a warning for having an expired insurance card.
I didn't go to court... and today I called and they told me i needed to fax my proof of insurance which "was an is" current (the card was just expired) and that i needed to pay or take defensive driving for the ticket...now what happens to the first ticket if i take defensive driving for the second. I already payed the fee..would i need to pay the full fine for it??? or do i most likely already have a warrant for my arrest....HELP ME....
and yes, this is irresponsible on my part I'm sorry i will take care of this...help me!!

Fax the insurance card, pay the fines, and attend the course. And do this soon.

Ticket one: paid fine ($104), with condition that you undertake defensive driving course.

Ticket two: five months later, again speeding. ($$$???) Also, warning for expired insurance.

From your wording, I'm guessing you didn't call to find out what was up until after missing the court date - which also means you were late on paying the ticket. Or at least you'll have to pay a higher fine now than if you had attended the hearing.

They have no record of you taking defensive driving for ticket 1; you simply didn't attend. The judgement for the current ticket (#2) proabbly includes a value for the difference between choosing class and not choosing class on the first ticket.

You also need to show that your insurance "was and is" currently in effect; what they're trying to do is see if the 'uninsured' charge will stick. If your insurance was not valid at the time the ticket (#2) was issued, you'll get another fine added to the speeding fine.

Basically, you now have to pay:
- difference in first ticket between taking class and not
- plus new speeding fine
- plus (probably) fine for driving without insurance
- plus pay for defensive driving class registration (again!)

Good luck ... or better yet, stick with public transit.

Ask a lawyer to be sure, I believe that you'll have to pay the fine on the second ticket and the driving course would go for the first, but I might be wrong on that as I'm not in Texas. But a lawyer would know and a simple phone call shouldn't charge you, or some kind of legal aid place would know for sure. That's a tricky one.

Pay it all and consider it tuition in the School of Learning Responsibility.

Firstly, you're past the allowed time to take the Def Driving for the first one, so you're SOL on that. Pay the fine, kiss the 104 bye bye, and set up Def Driving for the second one. TAKE THE CLASS!!! Not only does it mean the ticket doesn't go on your record, it also doesn't go on your insurance (and that will probably go up as a result of the first one). It also gives you a discount on your auto insurance, so you're just pi$$ing money away not to take it.

Keep a copy of your CURRENT insurance card in your car. Observe the speed limit.

And please please please stay out of Dallas.

My guess is since you didn't finish the first fine for the first ticket and didn't show up for court for the second that there is a warrant out for you now. Call the court and see what you need to do (and do it) to fix the problem. Otherwise next time you get stopped you will get handcuffed and your car will get towed. Slow down.

you will ahve to pay any and all fines associated with the tickets and defensive driving courses, regardless if you already paid for another session.

Call a lawyer, and just give him the facts. He/She will charge you for all that extra yacking you seem to excel at.

This one is so confusing, it would be easier to just call the Court, come clean and take care of all of it.

You need to be a little more responsible. If you didn't do the class on the first one, I'd say you just waisted $104.00. To bad, it really is your fault though.♥
