Carbonite offers online backup service and in the end it will cost you more expensive than image backup utility. I prefer image backup with Acronis True Image. It is cheaper than Carbonite and in case of your system falling it will be able to restore you entire PC on even on a new hardware. I haven't used because I quite satisfied by my present backup utility- True Image.

I've used it, but I never needed to restore anything. Works pretty transparently, however.
