i woke up in a half-sleep state screaming and hollering around the squad bay, my body was aching, lol. this is all true people, this is not sea stories thats the way it was done in the old Corps. another recruit was blanket partied, he ran to the drill instructors duty hut, banged on the door, the DI opened the door, laughed in the recruit's face, and slammed the door shut. the DI should have came to the recruit's aid. i believe mentoring would be a better approach to traing our fighting men rather than stern discipline. i think the marine corps should lighten up a bit, who agrees with me?

Maybe when you guys wise up and quit enlisting with the Marines then they'll have to change their policies but as long as guys are signing up and taking it then there's no motive to change.

Wow... Lighten up?!?
The Corps WILL NOT "loosen up" simply because your fellow recruits felt compelled to give you a little blanket-party!
If you consider "easy" a part of your dictionary, go join the Air Force or the Army... The Marine Corps has a reputation for being the toughest and best out there! If we succumb to the whining of people like you, we would not be the best fighting-force in the world.

If you truly feel like you were wronged, talk to a JAG on your base/ship and file a formal complaint. Otherwise, suck it up and move on with your life, Marine...
No matter what, though: DON'T EXPECT ANYONE TO THROW YOU A PITY PARTY BECAUSE YOU WEREN'T THE MOST POPULAR RECRUIT AT THE DEPOT!!!

We had a guy get blanket partied, and all I can say is that if recruits blanket party another recruit that is a LOT of risk if caught doing it. Because of that, people who get the "blanket party" are the slackers, and sludge that gets through boot camp even though we all know they are the ones who need to be put out of the Corps.

You must have done something to piss off the other guys or they wouldn't have done it. If you can't take the punishment, don't get out of line. I was in the Marines 30 years ago and nothing like that EVER happened. You must have watched "Few Good Men" way too much. Things like that these days can get a DI( dishonorably discharged quick.

THIS GUY IS FULL OF IT.

If the Drill Instructor did what he claims then he would be sent packing. I know A LOT of Marines and none of them were ever thrown a "blanket party."

Its also funny how this guy talks about his "pain" then says "lol." Yea it must of hurt so bad.

Anyone who gets abused like this can report it and the recruits who did it to him will be tossed, and so will the DI if he knew about it.

I am interested to know, what platoon and company were you in? Who were your DI's?

Yeah I heard

My son is in the Army and he pulled a prank with the gas
and they ALL had to go back into the gas.
Don't know why he wants to keep getting in trouble.

Last fall they said on the news that they were no longer going to be allowed to have stern discipline but had to do counseling instead. One extreme to the other. Counseling won't toughen them up for what you go thru in war but some of the other tactics do seem a bit extreme to put it mildly.

Don is 100% right!

Dont take it so seriously. Its part of being a marine. So what if you got the blanket treatment. If I were you I wouldnt run screaming to anyone. Whats there to be afraid about. Wake up. You are in the Marines.

How about instead of a blanket party, we throw you a Pity Party? (Since that seems to be what you want... poor fellow.)

We don't do Basic that way anymore, as much as some people could use it.

You don't get a blanket party for being a good soldier. Usually it is because you won't straighten up and your squad is getting in trouble for it. You are only as strong as your weakest link.
