This started over 6 years ago. It has been suggested that my artery could run very close to my eardrum meaning I can hear the bloodflow. I do have a thyroid problem and arrythmia of the heart, taking thyroxine and amiodarone tablets daily (if that's of any consequence)
Don't have any hearing problems as I've recently been tested
Did have a doppler scan on my artery and the finding was that it was 'noisy' but I was offered no follow up help or advice on this matter.

HELP - can't concentrate on things
GETTING DESPERATE NOW!!!

As there is not a chance of anyone doing anything with your artery, especially with it being one that is supplying your brain with the oxygenated blood it needs, unless it is absolutely necessary, I think you need to find another way of dealing with the noise.
It is just your pulse you can hear.
Be thankful you haven't got a life-threatening illness and get on with your life.

You need to see your GP and explain that although you have had this condition for six years it is making you depressed. The condition probably isn't serious, but unless you tell your doctor how it's making you feel he won't realise how much it's getting you down. You are a whole person, not just a symptom. Hope this helps and I hope you soon find a cure.

The noise is called a bruit and caused by turbulent fast blood flow thru the major blood vessel in your neck (carotid artery). If you aren't comfortable with your first physician's diagnosis and have concerns, get a second opinion.
